  • About Us

We are a community that believes it is important for everyone to grow in their faith and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Together we seek to be faithful to Christ in our Christian walk and in our worship.

About Us

We believe the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, are the divine revelation of God, verbally inspired in its origin by the Holy Spirit, and is the only infallible Guide in faith and practice...

Declaration of Faith

Our beliefs are based on the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. We believe in the Trinity, salvation through faith in Jesus, and the importance of living a life of love and service. Click below to learn more about our beliefs.

What We Believe

About Bethesda Church

Together we are striving to be a Christ-like community!

What does Bethesda mean?

Bethesda means “House of Kindness” or “House of Mercy.”  We try to live out our name by making a place for those who are hurting, wandering, struggling, and in need of God’s grace.

Who is Bethesda Church?

We are a community that believes it is important for everyone to grow in their faith and knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Together we seek to be faithful to Christ in our Christian walk and in our worship.

We seek to follow Christ's commission to His church to go and make disciples for Him.

Why non-denominational?

Being non-denominational helps us as a local church to reach out to and accept members who come from various church backgrounds.

Being non-denominational guards us from the denominational drift away from Christ and Scripture that we see in our land today.

Being non-denominational gives us more local control over which churches and/or organizations we partner with.

Weekly Worship Services

Our Worship Service:

Our weekly Sunday morning worship services are from 10:30 am to 11:40 am. Please join us for a special time of biblical teaching, for the worship of our Lord God, and for Christian fellowship.

Pastor Steve & Diane Moerman:

Pastor Steve and Diane Moerman have 4 adult children.  Their three daughters and one son all live in the Sioux Falls area.  Pastor Steve is originally from Sioux Center, Iowa and Diane is originally from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. They have been married for over 40 years!!

Steve is a second career pastor.  Before going into ministry, Steve and Diane, operated a hardware store in Northwest Iowa.  In following the Lord's leading to go into ministry, Steve and Diane, along with their family, moved to Michigan so he could attend seminary in Grand Rapids, MI.

Following graduation from seminary, Steve and Diane planted the Cornerstone Prison Church at the South Dakota State Penitentiary in Sioux Falls.  Diane and Steve worked together building a church where people from oftentimes very difficult backgrounds could come together to worship our Lord and to grow in their faithfulness to Him.  It was a great experience watching God work in the lives of the men.

After serving at the prison for 10 years, they took a call to Peace Christian Reformed Church in Menno, SD. Steve and Diane served there faithfully for 5 ½ years.

Currently they are enjoying the change a new church brings.  They enjoy visiting with people attending Bethesda and with members of our community. They are excited to have the opportunity to serve in a Biblically faithful church while being able to remain close to their family.

Our Ministries

Sunday School:

Our children's Sunday School classes begin at 9:00 am before the morning church service.  Since children need a solid foundation in life, our focus is to help each of our children learn the Bible and about our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Our adult Sunday School classes begin at 9:00 am.  Pastor Steve leads these classes and we use a presentation and discussion format.  We believe questions can be good and that God gives us the answers we need in His Word!  Currently we are studying 1st Peter.

Sunday Evening Study Group:

Our Sunday evening study group begins at 6:00 pm.  We use video series to cover Biblical topics such as the developing Christian maturity, the creation, the flood, and the exodus from Egypt along with cultural topics such as social justice.  After each video we have a time of group discussion.

Baptism/Profession of Faith Class:

Baptism/Profession of Faith classes are held every Wednesday at 5:00 pm. They are to help people to make a knowledgeable profession of faith.  These class studies include the Heidelberg Catechism.  These classes are open to anyone from 8th grade to adult.  (Starting fall of 2023 – 2-year course)
